Chris Sharpling Forward
The Cards’ longest-serving player. Signed from Crystal Palace, in October 2001, for a club record fee of £60,000. Had a brilliant loan spell at Woking during the 2000/01 season, scoring nine times in 14 games. Extremely quick and an accomplished finisher. Toured the Far East with Middlesex Wanderers during the summer of 2002. Very unlucky to sustain a cruciate injury in December 2003 – just as he had returned to his best form – which ruled him out for the rest of that season. . Returned to first team action in November 2004 and impressed in a number of games. Injured again in the second game of this season and returned to action in early January.
