According to The Sun, towering center-back Nemanja Vidic is unhappy that United have stalled in offering him a new contract and it appears the Serbia international is keen to move to Real in an expected £18 million deal.
Real manager Jose Mourinho wants Vidic to anchor his defense at the Bernabeu, with the former Chelsea boss also looking to bring Ashley Cole to Spain as well.
The Serbian came to the Red Devils from Spartak Moscow for £7m in 2006 and signed his current deal a year later, which pays him £70,000 a week.
Vidic’s wages are still far less than that of his defensive partner Rio Ferdinand, who is making £110,000 a week, and the 28-year-old was expecting a new contract thrashed out this summer.
Should Vidic, who has made about 200 appearances for United, leave the club it would leave Sir Alex Ferguson with a defensive crisis, as Ferdinand’s knee injury will force him to miss the beginning of the Premier League season.
