Football Manager 2009™ Patch & Data update coming soon!
Hi Sdgggas
We know most of you have been eagerly awaiting the next patch with the updated player database since the January transfer window upheaval. Fear not, you will have to wait only a short while longer. We are pleased to announce that a patch and data update will be released at the end of the month, which includes all the January transfer window moves, and updates managers’ movement too. We'll email you again once it's available, and if you've registered your copy of Football Manager 2009 via STEAM, you'll get the update and patch automatically.
War Child
Moving onto other news, you may already know that Sports Interactive are involved on many levels with the UK arm of War Child; a non-political charity who believe that no child should be affected by war. Indirectly, every person who buys a boxed copy of one of our games is already involved with the charity, as SEGA and SI make a donation to War Child UK for each game sold, and have done since they started working together on the Football Manager series.
We're not going to ram the charity down anyone's throats - you can find out information about them, and the extraordinary work that they do at www.warchild.org.uk, but this project deserves extra promotion.
You have probably noticed the advertising hoardings for War Child Heroes around the side of the pitch in FM09, and as the flagship of their project is released today, we thought it was timely to let you all know what it is all about.
War Child Heroes Album
Over the last decade and a half, War Child has released a number of albums with different "themes". With the Heroes project, the theme was to ask some musical heroes to nominate their favourite modern day artist, and ask them to cover one of their tracks. The response has been magnificent.
You can find out more information about the album at www.warchild.org.uk/heroes
The album is released today on the Parlophone label, with all profits going to the charity. The album sleeve features original artwork from John Squire.
The bands who appear on the album include Beck, Scissor Sisters, Lily Allen, Duffy, Elbow, TV On The Radio, Hot Chip, The Kooks, Estelle, Franz Ferdinand and many more, performing songs from the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, The Clash, U2, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Joy Division, The Kinks, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, The Ramones and Blondie, amongst others. It's available from all good record stores.
FMClub Competition
Also coming later this month we will be announcing the name of the next FMClub winner as well as releasing the details of our biggest FMClub prize yet. Remember, entrance to the FMClub is completely free to everyone who purchased a copy of Football Manager 2009 or Football Manager Handheld 2009. This month we are giving away a seriously stylish pair of Nike Total 90 football boots, fully customised in the NIKEiD store to be done in glorious FM09 orange and black. Sign up to the FMClub here to make sure you don’t miss out on your chance of winning!
