Murder cops search for Joey Barton's cousins
Two cousins of England star Joey Barton are wanted for questioning after the murder of party-goer.
Detectives believe Kevin Corke, 31, and Carl Taylor, 20, could hold vital evidence on the stabbing of Thomas Harrison, 29.
The dad-of-one was attacked as he left an 18th birthday party on Sunday.
AdvertisementThe wanted men are the brothers of Paul Taylor, 22, who was jailed for life for the racist murder of Anthony Walker, 18, in 2005.
And they are cousins of Michael Barton, 19, who was also convicted of the horrific killing. He is the brother of Newcastle United midfielder Joey, 24.
Everton fan Thomas died after being assaulted in Huyton, Liverpool. The killers fled in a silver car and are already thought to have left the area.
Merseyside police said the motive for the murder is unclear. But they believe Corke and Taylor could help them with their inquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Martin Andrew, who is leading the investigation, said: "I'm encouraged by the public response following Thomas's death.
"The community is appalled at this horrendous crime and I would like to thank everyone who has already come forward.
"They want to see those responsible arrested and put before the courts and we are determined to make that happen."
He urged anyone with information to come forward. He said: "Help our investigators find justice for Thomas's family.
"Our thoughts are with them now and I would reassure them and the many people who knew and loved him, that we will find his killers and put them before the courts." |
