Lionel Morgan is an English football player who has been released by Milton Keynes Dons (formerly Wimbledon). His career was short but he was believed by those who regularly watched him to be among the most talented young players in the game, and perhaps the best produced by the prolific production line of Wimbledon FC. This impression was endorsed by a televised appearance for England Under-19s in which he was awarded the 'Man-of-the-Match' award and compared by studio analysts to a young John Barnes.
Morgan joined Wimbledon aged 10 and went through the academy set-up, starting his first match on 26/8/2000. He was released by Wimbledon in May 2003 when they where relegated, just two years after Tottenham Hotspur bid £750,000 for the talented midfielder. This is believed to be because of his persistent knee injury. He is now believed to be retired because of this injury.
He is best known amongst players of the Championship Manager series of games for being one of the best players on the game despite being a relative unknown in the real world.
