He's a superlatively talented 17-year-old, who plays for Grêmio and is being linked with a selection of Europe's most reputable clubs. Sound familiar? It will do if your memory stretches back to 1997, when the exact same thing was being written about a young man by the name of Ronaldinho.
Inevitably, Grêmio's latest boy wonder, Anderson, has earned the oppressive tag of "The New Ronaldinho". But it's not just the fact that they both started out with the Rio Grande do Sul outfit that has prompted the nickname.
Alike Barcelona's finest, Anderson is a dashing, attacking midfield player whose abundance of skill makes him a top-rate crowd pleaser, and a nightmare for opponents. His series of wonder goals in the colours of Grêmio, have also contributed to making him one of the most talked about youngsters in Brazilian football.
Sure enough, the European vultures came knocking and as of now, Italian sides Palermo and Inter Milan are the two frontrunners, in the contest to attain Anderson's signature. Chelsea and a couple of Portuguese clubs have also been mentioned as possible suitors. |
